Day 1 : Arrival at the Kigali International Airport – Relaxation.

On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be meet with a warm welcome by our company representative. Exchange some money in local currency then drive to the hotel for an overnight stay. Your professional guide driver will be at the airport ahead of time waiting for you. Transfer to the Kigali hotel. Enjoy hotel amenities. Dinner and rest.

Overnight stay at Kigali Marriott Hotel (Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast).

Day 2 : Road Transfer to Akagera National Park (approx. 3 hours’ drive).

You will have an early breakfast at 07h00 and proceed to Akagera National Park. Your driver guide will ensure that by 11h00 you are at the North gate and hand you over to the Magashi Tented Camp driver guide. You will then drive 45mins to Magashi Tented Camp. Magashi Tented Camp is situated in the productive and phenomenally diverse north-eastern corner of Akagera National Park, overlooking scenic Lake Rwanyakazinga. You will do twice daily scheduled camp activities; which include, morning drives, boat cruises, fishing on a catch and release basis, and evening game drives.

Day 3 : Akagera National Park – Camp Schedule.

On this day, you will pick up where you left off and proceed with the Camp’s scheduled activities. The activities will all be extra interactive, looking for tracks and signs in the bush, trying to recognize bird sounds and identifying animals big and small.

Overnight stay at Magashi Tented Camp (Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast).

Day 4 : Road Transfer to Volcanoes National Park (approx.5 hours’ drive).

After enjoying an early breakfast at the camp, you will check out and drive to the north gate with a stop at Kigali city for Lunch. Drive to Volcanoes National Park in Kinigi. Best known as a sanctuary for the region’s rare mountain gorillas. Along the way, you will have time to discover, view Rwandan Landscapes. Head to your lodge, relax enjoy property amenities after check in at the Lodge.
In the afternoon, you may go on an optional visit to the Ellen DeGeneres campus of the Dian Fossey gorilla fund. A multi acre eco-friendly facility adjacent to the Volcanoes national park designed to serve as gateway to the conservation efforts towards protecting Mountain gorillas, the place is full of Dian Fossey’s interesting conservation stories and research work. Alternatively, you may spend the rest of your day at leisure, enjoying amenities at your lodge, and preparing for the mountain gorilla trek ahead. Later have your dinner and rest.

Overnight stay at Bisate Lodge (Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast).

Day 5 : Volcanoes National Park for Gorilla Trek + Cultural Experiences.

06h30: Early breakfast precedes the day, before heading to the park headquarters for the gorilla trek briefing at 07h00. You will then transfer you to the starting point of your guided walk, ready to begin this amazing adventure at 08h00.
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is often described as “life changing” and with good reason. Hikes in the mountains can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours+ depending on the family allocated to your group and their location. The journey back can take just as long, but you are often carried along by the euphoria you feel after seeing the gorillas.
For gorilla trekking, you will be in rain forest, so it will more than likely rain. Warm clothing is required as well as walking/hiking boots, a hat and lightweight poncho/raincoat. Garden gloves, to avoid stinging nettles and gaiters are recommended.
You will return to the lodge for lunch. Rest a little bit. Later, embark on an afternoon Cultural Experiences at the Gorilla Guardians former ibyi’wacu Cultural Village. This place is fun with lots of Rwandan history and ancient stories. Feel free to take part in their traditional dance. Retire and return to the hotel for relaxation. Later, have your dinner and rest.

Overnight stay at Bisate Lodge (Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast).

Day 6 : Undertake Golden Monkey trek + Departure.

After breakfast you will proceed to the park headquarters to meet your guides for Golden Monkeys trekking, enjoy them play plus doing their daily activities, then after completing your experiences. Return to your lodge to relax, have your lunch. Later in the afternoon, check out, say your goodbyes, then you begin a relaxing scenic drive back to Kigali. If time allows, you can go souvenir shopping in the local markets, malls and or craft shops. Depending on your flight details, drive to Kigali international Airport for your outbound flight back home (evening flight is recommended). End. See you when you next visit.
