On this day, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out and go visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Here, over 256,000 victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi were laid to rest as a sign of respect to their bodies. Thereafter, enjoy a scenic drive to Musanze, the lush gateway to the Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, take in the breathtaking views of Rwanda’s rolling hills and vibrant countryside. Upon arrival, check in and settle into the elegant comforts of your lodge. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace, unwind with the lodge’s upscale amenities or go on an optional visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. As evening falls, you will have your dinner at the lodge, then retreat to your room for a restful night in preparation for the next day’s gorilla trekking experience.

After an early breakfast, you will proceed to the home of mountain gorillas, the Volcano National Park headquarters at Kinigi, to meet your guides for the day. After completing our park formalities, we go on this once-in-a-lifetime experience of tracking mountain gorillas. Once you spot them, you are allowed to spend an hour watching these majestic primates. Return to your hotel for lunch, and relaxation. Spend the afternoon at your leisure, enjoying the property’s amenities, have dinner and rest.
