HISTORY AND CULTURAL MUSEUMS

The King’s Palace: a wonderfully made thatched building structured like a beehive, is a replica of the original royal residence. A few long-horned Inyambo cattle, descended from the king’s herd, live in the back, where their caretakers meticulously tend to them and sing to them, preserving a unique custom.

The Ethnographic Museum: Built in 1987, this museum today holds one of Africa’s best ethnographic collections. Its seven galleries feature historical, ethnographic, artistic, and archaeological items, as well as visual aids, to provide visitors with a comprehensive understanding of Rwandan culture.

Kigali Genocide Memorial

The Kigali Genocide Memorial at Gisozi, which opened on the 10th anniversary of the Genocide against the Tutsi, is home to 250,000 victims. This memorial also serves to educate visitors about the Tutsi Genocide and to examine genocide in the twentieth century.

Rwanda Art Museum

This new museum, which was previously known as the Presidential Palace Museum, features contemporary artworks from Rwanda and throughout the world. The museum aims to provide visitors a glimpse into Rwandan creativity's uniqueness.

Kandt House Museum

Until the early 1900s, Richard Kandt served as the first colonial governor of Rwanda on behalf of Germany. His old Kigali home is now a museum dedicated to life in Rwanda before, during, and after colonialism.

Museum of the Environment

This small museum, located near Lake Kivu, serves as an educational resource for our guests, many of whom are locals. Its goal is to assist people understand and protect their environment, as well as to promote integrated and long-term development.

Campaign Against Genocide Museum

Campaign Against Genocide Museum is a museum located in the Parliamentary building, in Kigali just 800 meters behind conventional center road point, and just 4.9km, 9 minutes’ drive from Kanombe Airport. The Museum is built in the Parliamentary building which was once known as Conseil National de Development because this building hosted the Rwandan Patriotic Front politicians and the 600 man protection force (3BN) from 28th December 1993 as they were in the preparations for the installation of Broad Based Transitional Government and the National Transitional Assembly and these 600 man protection force the (3BN) were the ones given the order first on 07/04/1994 by the RPA Chairman of High Command Major General Paul Kagame to break out from their initial positions defend themselves and rescue victims of Genocide in their vicinity when campaign against Genocide began
